Interior design and fit-out: preparing your brief

An interior project starts with the people who use the space. Total Concept designs and builds interiors, including shops, showrooms and restaurants. We discuss the intended atmosphere and practical functions before developing the layout and scope of work.

Document the existing space

Send a floor plan, dimensions and photographs. Identify what stays and what needs to change. Access, existing services, visitor routes and daily operations influence the options. Where structural work or permits are involved, agree which appropriately qualified parties need to participate.

Define how the space should work

Explain the activities the interior must support: displaying products, welcoming customers, selling, dining or working together. Reference images help describe colours, materials and atmosphere. These preferences need to be considered alongside the budget and schedule.

Coordinate production and installation

A fit-out may combine bespoke elements, signage, walls and finishes. Tell us when work can take place and whether the venue will remain open. This helps define the agreed installation scope and planning.
