What is EPS foam shaping?

EPS, or expanded polystyrene, can be shaped into scenic forms. The starting point may be a sketch, reference image or digital 3D model. Shape, surface and finish are then developed for the application. A large scenic volume has different requirements from a small object with fine details.

Objects for exhibition stands and brand activations

Possible briefs include an oversized product shape, three-dimensional logo, scenic lettering or a shaped feature within a stand. An object can draw attention to a product or make a brand idea tangible. Explain how visitors will see and use it: from a distance, as a photo backdrop or close up during a demonstration. Choose between shaping and 3D printing

EPS shaping and 3D printing are different production methods. 3D printing builds an object layer by layer from a digital model. Painting and finishing foam objects

Discuss the required colour, gloss, texture and visible joints. Tell us whether visitors will touch the object and whether it will be used indoors or outdoors. Reinforcement, protective finishes and connections need to suit the project. Weather resistance, fire classification and load capacity cannot be assumed from the material name alone.

From 3D design to production and installation

Share an existing 3D file if available, or begin with drawings and reference images. Define overall dimensions, important details and viewing distance. For larger objects, discuss sections, joints, packaging, transport and access to the venue. Agree who installs the object, how it is fixed and whether it needs to be used again.

What affects the price?

Design work, dimensions, detail, the number of components, finish and quantity all influence production. Fixings or installation at the venue may also form part of the scope. Compare proposals against the same dimensions, level of finish and delivery requirements.
